maladaptive-daydreaming-aphant

"my child is fine" your lonely-ass child has spent so much time maladaptively daydreaming about a nonexistent romantic partner that they've imagined almost every possible scenario and will never be satisfied with any partner in real life because no one will ever compare to their fictional significant other and anyone who could will take too long to reach a level of trust and intimacy that will satisfy their agonizing desire to love and be loved

you revert to self-sabotage because you can control the cycle. you’re stuck in a loop of familiarity because you thrive in the comfort you’ve created for yourself. the illusion of false safety is controlling you far more than you think.

cut it out.

people (mostly on twitter) are pissing me off so much with the "its reddit, who cares"

like, its not a social media, its a collection of forums, if you hate certain subs for their politics or opinions, dont visit those (you control the buttons you press or whatever)

meanwhile were about to lose so much information about niche hobbies and interests,

and these are the same people who were complaining last week that you cant find anything on google without adding "reddit" at the end,

are you fucking stupid, do you want to have to look through unrelated blogs and ai generated/pay walled quora answers everytime you need technical assistance or wanna talk about a hobby? is that what you want?

im this close to losing it

The whole Reddit thing is an especially striking example of corporate brain rot because, like, they managed to build their entire business model on the back of exploiting vast quantities of unpaid volunteer labour, and successfully convinced the entire Internet that this is a normal state of affairs. How do you fuck that up? How do you convince yourself that instituting a de facto demand for your very nearly 100% volunteer workforce to pay you for the ability to use the tools that are required to do their job is anything other than cutting your own throat?

Like, do they just not grasp the fundamentals of their own business model? Do they not realise that they're a for-profit business in the unimaginably envious position of employing a largely volunteer workforce? That's the only place I can imagine the idea coming from of going to people who doing the work of employees for free and saying "actually, you should pay us for the privilege of working for us".

So, I’m sure you know this but it’s worth stating for the crowd who may not be familiar with the history: the crowning piece on this fiasco is that this is Reddit we’re talking about.  You know, the site that famously took off when a huge chunk of Digg’s users decamped for it after Digg did a redesign that pissed them off?  An event which Reddit’s current CEO Steve Huffman aka Spez was around for personally?

Absolute peak corporate brain rot there!
